Asheville Man Fatally Shot in Hendersonville Parking Lot; Suspect At Large

HENDERSONVILLE, NC – In the early morning hours of Friday, a shooting in Henderson Crossing Plaza’s parking lot resulted in the death of Elijah Edward Timmons III, a 30-year-old man from Asheville.

The City of Hendersonville Police Department reports that officers were dispatched to the scene near Orchard Bar & Grill at around 2:36 a.m. following reports of a disturbance involving gunshots.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Timmons on the ground with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. A firearm, believed to belong to Timmons, was secured by the officers at the scene. Preliminary investigations indicate that Timmons was involved in an altercation with an unidentified suspect prior to the shooting.

The suspect remains at large. Police believe this to be an isolated incident and assert there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
