Atlantic City man arrested in connection with stabbing on Atlantic Avenue

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — A 30-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a stabbing that occurred last week on Atlantic Avenue, the Atlantic City Police Department announced Tuesday.

The incident took place on December 2, 2024, at approximately 8:35 a.m., when officers responded to the 1300 block of Atlantic Avenue for a report of a man who had been stabbed. The victim, a 45-year-old Atlantic City resident, was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators determined that the suspect fled the scene in a gray vehicle. A concerned citizen provided officers with a photograph of the suspect, and detectives used surveillance footage to identify the vehicle and distribute its information.

Later that day, at 2:40 p.m., Officer Matthew Crosby located the suspect’s vehicle in the 800 block of Maryland Avenue. The suspect, identified as Luis Martinez-Colon of Atlantic City, exited a nearby residence and was arrested without incident.

Martinez-Colon has been charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Quick work by Atlantic City police led to the identification and arrest of a stabbing suspect within hours of the incident.
