RANDALLSTOWN, MD. — A Baltimore County couple is celebrating a life-changing $2,948,742 win after claiming the largest progressive jackpot in the history of Maryland Lottery’s FAST PLAY games on the $30 VIP Club ticket.

The husband, a regular lottery player, purchased the winning ticket earlier this month at J&S Liquors on Liberty Road after noticing the jackpot had climbed to nearly $3 million. Initially hesitant due to the ticket’s $30 price tag, he gave it a try and later discovered he had won the record-breaking prize.

After realizing their life-altering win, the couple kept the news quiet, waiting more than a week to claim their jackpot. “It needed to marinate for a couple of days,” the husband joked, as they recounted their low-key reaction to becoming instant millionaires.

The win pushes the husband closer to retirement, though his wife remains skeptical about whether he’ll leave his job, calling him a “live-to-work” kind of person. In addition to the jackpot, the couple also found a $50 winner on another VIP Club ticket purchased at the same time.

J&S Liquors will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the historic ticket, adding to the excitement in Randallstown.
