Baltimore County police arrest suspect in December fatal stabbing

BALTIMORE — Baltimore County homicide detectives have arrested and charged 46-year-old Michael Distance with first-degree murder in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred in December, authorities announced Monday.

Officers responded to reports of a stabbing on December 8, 2024, in the Unit block of Ecoway Court in Towson. Upon arrival, they found 37-year-old Johnny Charles with stab wounds. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Distance was taken into custody and is currently being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center.

Police have not released further details about the circumstances of the stabbing, and the investigation remains ongoing.
