A Baltimore County Wawa sold the first $1 million top-prize winner claimed in the new Triple Red 777s game.
BALTIMORE, Md. — A Baltimore grandfather became Maryland’s newest millionaire after buying a $20 Scratch-Off ticket that revealed a $1 million top prize, according to Maryland Lottery officials.
The longtime Lottery player purchased a Triple Red 777s Scratch-Off and discovered the game’s “AUTOWIN 7” symbol. When he uncovered the prize, it showed he had won $1 million.
“It was unbelievable,” the Orioles fan told Lottery officials.
The grandfather said he has won smaller Lottery prizes in the past, but this is his first top-prize win. He said he has not yet decided how he will spend the money but may use some of it to enjoy himself.
The winning ticket was purchased at the Wawa located at 2845 Rolling Road in Windsor Mill. The Baltimore County retailer will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the top-prize ticket.
The Triple Red 777s Family of Games launched May 15 and includes Scratch-Off tickets ranging in price from $1 to $20.
Lottery officials said this is the first $1 million top prize claimed in the $20 Triple Red 777s game. Four $1 million top prizes and four $50,000 prizes remain available.
