Police say a suspect approached the victim on Georgia Avenue, opened fire and fled the scene
WASHINGTON, D.C. — A Baltimore man has been arrested in connection with a Northwest DC shooting that left a victim with life-threatening injuries after the gunman allegedly approached and opened fire on Georgia Avenue earlier this month.
The Metropolitan Police Department announced the arrest of 43-year-old Marquis Foster of Baltimore, Maryland, in connection with the June 8 shooting.
According to investigators, the incident occurred at approximately 7:15 p.m. in the 2500 block of Georgia Avenue NW.
Police said the suspect approached the victim, brandished a handgun and shot the individual before fleeing the scene.
The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
On Friday, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, Foster was taken into custody and charged with Assault With Intent to Kill While Armed.
Court records did not immediately indicate whether Foster had obtained legal representation.
The investigation remains ongoing.
