Baltimore man arrested with first-degree murder, killing his 64-year-old mother

BALTIMORE — Homicide detectives have arrested and charged 25-year-old Ajay Wiggins in connection with the killing of his mother, 64-year-old Joyce Gaskins, at their home in the 1600 block of Druid Hill Avenue.

The incident occurred on November 15, 2024, when Western District patrol officers responded to a report of an unresponsive person at approximately 2:37 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found Gaskins deceased at the scene. Medics confirmed her death shortly thereafter.

After a month-long investigation, Wiggins was taken into custody on December 16, 2024, and transported to the Central Booking Intake Facility. He has been charged with first-degree murder.

Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive in the case, and no further details were immediately available.

The investigation highlights the tragic nature of domestic homicides and their devastating impact on families and communities.
