Man shot in Southern District as detectives investigate broad daylight attack

BALTIMORE, MD – A 55-year-old man was shot Saturday afternoon in South Baltimore, prompting a police investigation into another case of gunfire in a residential neighborhood.

At approximately 5 p.m., officers responded to the 3600 block of 9th Street following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found the man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was treated on scene by medics and transported to a nearby hospital. His current condition has not been released.

Detectives from the Southern District have taken over the investigation. No suspect description has been provided, and it remains unclear what led up to the shooting or if the victim was targeted.
