BALTIMORE, MD—A routine traffic stop led to the seizure of a loaded handgun and illegal fireworks by the Baltimore Police Department’s Eastern District Action Team. The incident occurred on Monday evening in the 4400 block of Belair Road.

The vehicle, which was sporting expired Virginia temporary tags, was stopped at around 6:53 PM. During the interaction with the driver, a police K-9 alerted officers to the potential presence of a firearm in the vehicle.

Upon further inspection, officers discovered not only the handgun but also a stash of illegal fireworks. The bomb squad and ATF investigators were promptly notified and arrived at the scene to assist.

Both the 30-year-old driver and a 46-year-old male passenger were charged in connection with the findings.
