Baltimore Police Arrest Armed Suspect in Southwest District

BALTIMORE, Md. — A 31-year-old man was arrested Sunday morning in Baltimore’s Southwest District after being found in possession of a handgun. The arrest occurred around 11:10 a.m. when Southwest District DAT detectives, while on foot patrol in the 200 block of Wilkens Avenue, observed the suspect exhibiting characteristics consistent with being armed.

Upon stopping the individual, detectives discovered a handgun in the suspect’s backpack. The suspect was immediately taken into custody and transported to the Central Booking and Intake Facility (CBIF) for processing.

The identity of the suspect has not been released. The investigation is ongoing.
