Baltimore Police Make Arrest in May Murder Case

BALTIMORE, MD—Baltimore Police have arrested 20-year-old Davonte Hamlett in connection with a homicide that took place on May 5, in the Northern District.

The incident occurred in the 3300 block of Reisterstown Road where Hamlett is accused of fatally shooting 25-year-old Sherman Anderson and injuring another 26-year-old male.

Following a thorough investigation, detectives identified Hamlett as the shooter and issued a warrant for his arrest on June 6, 2024.

He was apprehended by Warrant Apprehension detectives on August 6, 2024, and has since been charged with first-degree murder. Hamlett is currently being held at the Central Booking Intake Facility.

The shooting incident was initially reported when officers responded to a call at approximately 12:24 a.m. on May 5. Upon arrival, they found two individuals with gunshot wounds. While Sherman Anderson was pronounced dead at an area hospital, the condition of the second victim remains undisclosed at this time.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to examine the details surrounding this violent event.
