Baltimore Police Make Arrest in Murder of Derek Steele

BALTIMORE, MD – Baltimore Police have announced the arrest of 23-year-old Derek Steele in connection with a homicide that occurred in the Northeast District on March 1. Steele, a resident of Baltimore, was apprehended on March 11 with the assistance of various police units.

The investigation revealed that Steele was involved in a dispute that led to the fatal shooting of 55-year-old Johnny Small in the 5300 block of Frankford Avenue. Responding officers found Small with a gunshot wound, and he was later pronounced dead at a local hospital despite efforts to save his life.

Steele is currently held at the Central Booking Intake Facility, facing first-degree murder charges.
