Baltimore resident hits $1 million lottery jackpot as $100K and $50K prizes pour in across Maryland

BALTIMORE, MD – A Baltimore scratch-off player became Maryland’s newest millionaire this week, as the Maryland Lottery awarded nearly $30.5 million in total prizes—including two $100,000 winning tickets sold in Rockville and Upper Marlboro and a wave of $50,000 wins in cities from Gaithersburg to Greenbelt.

The top prize came from a MONOPOLY™ X100 scratch-off purchased at York Road Plaza Wine and Spirits, instantly transforming one lucky player into a millionaire. Meanwhile, a Double Your Money ticket bought at Food Stop Mini in Rockville and a MONOPOLY™ X50 ticket sold at Marlboro Village Exxon in Upper Marlboro each paid out $100,000.

Powerball also paid off for two Marylanders in the Aug. 16 drawing. A ticket sold at a 7-Eleven on Olney-Laytonsville Road in Gaithersburg and another at a Wawa on Three Notch Road in Mechanicsville each won $50,000. Both prizes remain unclaimed.

Throughout the week of Aug. 11-18, 25 winning tickets worth $10,000 or more were sold or redeemed, spanning several games including Mega Millions, Pick 5, Racetrax, and Fast Play. A Racetrax ticket worth $31,670 was sold in Baltimore at Speedy Convenience Store on Aug. 12, and Annapolis saw a $21,007.50 win on Aug. 17.

Among other notable payouts were:

  • $50,000 Cash scratch-offs sold in Easton and Rockville
  • Gold Bar Bingo and Joker’s Wild tickets delivering $50,000 each in Upper Marlboro and Greenbelt
  • Multiple $25,000 Pick 5 wins, including two sold in one day at the same Berlin retailer
  • A $40,000 Mega Millions ticket purchased in Rosedale

The $605 million Powerball jackpot (with a cash option of $273.4 million) remains up for grabs for the next drawing on Sunday.

Players have 182 days to claim draw and Fast Play prizes, and those winning over $25,000 must schedule an appointment to claim their winnings at the Maryland Lottery Customer Resource Center in Baltimore.

The week’s big wins spanned a mix of convenience stores, gas stations, and grocery retailers across the state, highlighting the widespread reach of Maryland Lottery luck.
