Baltimore Shooting Investigation Leads to Officer-Involved Shooting and Arrest

BALTIMORE, MD — A shooting incident in Baltimore’s Southern District on Wednesday morning led to an officer-involved shooting and the arrest of a suspect.

At approximately 10:49 a.m., Southern District Patrol officers responded to the 2700 block of Spelman Road following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a 33-year-old man suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. The victim was treated on the scene before being transported to a local hospital for further care.

During the investigation, officers were alerted to a suspect still in the vicinity. As officers pursued the suspect, he allegedly fired a gun at both a police officer and an armed security guard. The officer and security guard returned fire, and the suspect was apprehended after a brief foot chase. The 29-year-old suspect was taken to a hospital with a leg injury.

Homicide Detectives and the Special Investigations Response Team (SIRT) are currently investigating the incident. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact detectives at 410-396-2100.
