Baltimore woman shoved daughter flees car in terrifying attack

BALTIMORE, MD — A 43-year-old man was arrested after allegedly committing an armed carjacking involving a mother and her 11-year-old daughter at a gas station in Northwest Baltimore, police announced.

The incident occurred on May 6 at approximately 4:27 p.m. in the 6200 block of Reisterstown Road. A 48-year-old woman was pumping gas when a male suspect approached her with a knife, shoved her away from the vehicle, and entered the driver’s seat. Her daughter, seated in the rear of the vehicle, was able to quickly exit before the suspect fled.

A description of the suspect and the stolen vehicle was broadcast over police channels. On May 7, officers from the Regional Auto Theft Taskforce (RATT) located the vehicle traveling north on Loch Raven Boulevard near East Northern Parkway.

RATT officers requested support from the Police Department’s aviation unit, Foxtrot, which tracked the vehicle to the 1700 block of East Northern Parkway. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

Carjacking suspect faces multiple charges after aerial pursuit

The suspect, described by police as a repeat violent offender, was transported to Central Booking Intake Facility. He has been charged with multiple counts, including assault, stolen auto, carjacking, and possession of a dangerous weapon.

Neither the mother nor her daughter were injured during the incident. Police have not released the name of the suspect.

The arrest highlights the continued work of specialized units like RATT and the support of aerial surveillance resources in tracking and apprehending suspects involved in violent auto crimes.
