Baltimore man lands $50K Pick 5 win with go-to number he’s played for years
Baltimore, MD – A warehouse worker from Baltimore won $50,000 in the Maryland Lottery’s Pick 5 game after the number he’s played for years—36078—hit in the exact order during the Dec. 9 evening drawing.
Bernard Blair Jr. claimed the top prize on Thursday after placing a $1 straight bet on his longtime favorite combination. He checks his numbers daily using the Maryland Lottery app and has played the same number in every midday and evening drawing without fail.
He purchased the winning ticket at the Inner Harbor Exxon located at 1800 Russell Street. As the retailer that sold the ticket, the Exxon station will receive a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
Blair said he plans to use the winnings as a down payment on a house. He has consistently played the same five-digit number and never skips a drawing to avoid missing the one time it might hit.
The Pick 5 win comes as the Maryland Lottery continues its Let It Snow promotion through Dec. 28, offering players of Pick 3, Pick 4, and Pick 5 the chance to receive instant coupons or free $5 Snowflake Cash Fast Play tickets.
