Barking Dog Scares Off Burglar Who Tried to Rob Belmont Avenue Home

WYCKOFF, NJ – The Wyckoff Police Department said a barking dog scared away a burglar who tried to rob a home in the town on Saturday.

Police responded to the home on Belmont Avenue near the border of Wyckoff and Franklin Lakes at around 9:30 pm on Sunday.

“The actor attempted to gain entry into the front door of the home and ran from the home when he heard a dog barking inside the residence,” the department said. “Video surveillance shows the actor was a male wearing a ski mask, a winter jacket, and dark pants (NFI). The homeowner observed the male enter a dark-colored SUV (NFI), which then drove north on Belmont Avenue.”
