Barricaded gunman taken into custody after SWAT standoff in Tarentum

TARENTUM, PA — A man was taken into custody without incident Thursday evening after allegedly firing a gun during an argument and barricading himself inside a residence in Tarentum, police said.

At 2:49 p.m., Allegheny County Police SWAT responded to the 600 block of E 8th Avenue following a request for assistance from local authorities. The response came after reports that a man had discharged a firearm in his backyard during a dispute with his roommate and then retreated into the home.

SWAT officers secured the area and engaged in efforts to resolve the standoff. At approximately 5:30 p.m., team members made entry into the residence and safely apprehended the individual.

Tarentum Borough Police are leading the ongoing criminal investigation.
