Germantown, MD – Damon Junior Cruz, a 32-year-old resident of Gaithersburg, has been arrested on charges related to the assault of a minor, authorities announced. The charges include abuse of a minor and displaying obscene material to a minor.
The investigation into Cruz was initiated on Tuesday, following a report to Montgomery County Child Welfare Services and the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division (SVID). The alleged abuse spans from November 2021 to February, during which Cruz served as the victim’s hitting/pitching coach.
Law enforcement officials have expressed concerns that there may be additional victims. In an effort to identify other potential victims, detectives have released a photograph of Cruz and are appealing to the public for any other victims to come forward.
Cruz was taken into custody last Thursday and was subsequently processed at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. He has been released on bond pending further legal proceedings.
Authorities urge anyone with information or who may have been victimized by Cruz to contact the Montgomery County Police Department.
