Bayonne Police Participate in NJSPBA Polar Bear Plunge to Support Special Olympics

Bayonne police officers joined the annual NJSPBA Polar Bear Plunge, helping raise funds for Special Olympics programs across New Jersey.

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ – Bayonne Police Chief Robert Scerbo is thanking members of the department and PBA Local 7 for their participation in this year’s NJSPBA Polar Bear Plunge, a charity event benefiting Special Olympics programs across the state.

Officers and supporters took part in the cold-water plunge while also helping raise funds for the statewide athletic programs serving individuals with intellectual disabilities.

According to the Bayonne Police Department, members of the agency helped raise money, participated in the plunge, and came out to support fellow officers who took part in the event.

The department said the annual plunge is one of several fundraising efforts organized by the New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association to support Special Olympics athletes across the state.

Officials said the funds raised during the event will go toward programs that provide year-round sports training and competitions for Special Olympics athletes throughout New Jersey.
