Beach Replenishment Project On Hold As Tropical Storm, Hurricane Near

ORTLEY BEACH-Dredge operations in Ortley Beach and Seaside Park have ceased in preparation for a tropical depression hanging off the coast of North Carolina heading northward followed by Hurricane Florence deeper in the Atlantic.

At both beaches, equipment was stored near the dunes on the beaches and the accompanying dredges have left the area.

During the delay beach access will be closed in Ortley Beach at 5th and 7th Avenue and on L Street in Seaside Park.

Both dredges working in the area have been towed for safe harbor to shipyards and will undergo repairs, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
