Bear sighting reported near Stonegate Drive in Watchung

WATCHUNG, N.J. — A bear was sighted Saturday evening in the area of Stonegate Drive, according to an advisory from the Watchung Police Department. The bear was observed rummaging through garbage cans in the neighborhood.

Authorities are urging residents to be cautious and stay aware of their surroundings while outdoors. The police also advised securing any food and garbage left outside to prevent attracting wildlife.

No incidents or injuries related to the bear sighting have been reported.
