Bars from a prison jail cast a shadow on the floro.

HARRISBURG, Pa. – A Bedford County man has been sentenced to four to eight years in prison for violently shaking his foster son, causing serious injuries, Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday announced.

Anthony Plotts, 40, of Hopewell, was sentenced Friday after pleading no contest to felony charges of aggravated assault of a child and endangering the welfare of a child. The charges stem from a July 2022 incident in which the toddler suffered a brain bleed and other injuries doctors attributed to “violent shaking.”

“This case involves some of the most heinous conduct imaginable — abuse of a purely innocent, defenseless, and vulnerable young child,” Sunday said. “Despite the defendant’s attempts to avoid accountability by misleading investigators, the truth was uncovered, and he is now held accountable.”

Prosecutors said Plotts initially provided a false account of the child’s injuries, but medical records and evidence contradicted his statements.

In a separate case, Plotts was also sentenced to four years of concurrent probation for furnishing alcohol to minors at his home in November 2022.
