Chris Pollak, a martial arts instructor and owner of Hybrid Karate in Jackson Township, made the remark during a March interview published on YouTube by

Pollak, who gained notoriety years ago as a self-proclaimed New York “superhero vigilante,” justified his choice by claiming the Pope represents “a [Catholic]church protecting people who hurt.” He laughed as he added, “So, I’d fight the Pope, absolutely.”
No comment from the campaign
Neither Pollak nor Shem Tov has issued a public statement addressing the controversy. Pollak’s campaign pages have not acknowledged the remarks. Pollak continues to hide his past and his current situation from the voters of Jackson.
The statement adds to a growing list of controversies surrounding Pollak’s campaign, which has been marked by online rants and confrontations targeting local officials and religious institutions due to his affiliation with “Fags Fight Back”, a radical anti-Republican, anti-Trump gay rights advocacy group based out of New York City.
He also criticized the New York City Police Department, saying that cops ‘don’t do anything’, when it comes to fighting crime, which is, according to Chris, better left to the costumed superheroes of the city,
