Police say disorderly behavior led to arrest at station
CUMBERLAND, Md. — An Amtrak passenger from Minnesota was arrested after police said he caused a disturbance aboard a train arriving in Cumberland and became belligerent with officers.
According to the Cumberland Police Department, officers responded Tuesday to the Amtrak station on East Harrison Street after receiving reports of a disorderly passenger on an inbound train.
Amtrak staff told police the passenger had been yelling at other riders and repeatedly attempted to get off the train when he was not permitted to do so.
After officers contacted the man, identified as 61-year-old Michael Patrick Mattocks of St. Paul, Minnesota, police said he continued acting disorderly and cursed at officers, Amtrak employees and passengers.
Mattocks was arrested and charged with obstructing and hindering and disturbing the peace/disorderly conduct.
Following an initial court appearance, he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center on a $2,500 bond.
The charges are allegations, and Mattocks is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
