Bergen County Man Charged in Connection to Fatal Drug Overdose

PEQUANNOCK TOWNSHIP, NJ – Yesterday, David Pezak, 34, formerly of Saddle Brook, has been arrested for first-degree Strict Liability for Drug-Induced Death and other drug-related offenses in connection with a fatal drug overdose in Pequannock Township on November 15, 2021.

Pezak is currently detained at the Morris County Correctional Facility pending future court proceedings. The Strict Liability for Drug-Induced Death statute holds individuals who manufacture, distribute, or dispense controlled dangerous substances strictly liable for any death resulting from the use of that substance. The first-degree crime is punishable by up to 20 years in New Jersey State Prison, subject to the 85% parole ineligibility requirements of the No Early Release Act.
