Bethesda Man Arrested and Charged with Attempted Murder of Parents

BETHESDA, MD – On Sunday, 24-year-old Joseph Michael Bowers of Bethesda was arrested and charged with the attempted second-degree murder and aggravated assault of his parents.

At approximately 11:50 p.m., officers from the MCP 2nd District responded to a domestic-related assault on the 6500 block of Greentree Road. Upon arrival, they found Bowers’ parents, both 62, outside their residence suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victims were transported to local hospitals with serious injuries.

Early the following morning on Monday, at around 5:18 a.m., Bowers was found inside his parent’s residence and taken into custody without incident. He was then transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, and weapons-related charges.
