State Department Spokesperson Ned Price this week says not only does America need to ween itself off of Russian oil and gas, but that the United States needs to ditch fossil fuels for good.
“We are working with our European allies and partners as well as others to transition away from Russian sources of energy and ultimately to transition away from fossil fuels entirely,” Price said. “And to continue this transition to renewable energy sources, we’ll see to it that neither United States nor any country in the world is held hostage to a country like Russia who can close the spigot whenever they choose.”
