HARRISBURG, PA – Charges have been filed against Michael B. Cohen, a 39-year-old Hollidaysburg attorney, for forging documents in a custody case. The announcement was recently made by Attorney General Michelle Henry.
Cohen allegedly created a false custody order that led his client to violate the existing custody agreement terms by relocating her child out of the county.
As a result, Cohen faces two felony counts of forgery, two misdemeanor counts of tampering, and one misdemeanor count of obstruction of justice. His bail has been set at $75,000 unsecured.
The client had paid Cohen $10,000 to represent her in the custody dispute. In December 2022, after producing the fraudulent custody order, Cohen shared a picture of the order with his client, detailing significantly different terms for custody arrangements.
When the mother failed to meet a scheduled custody exchange, the child’s father contacted the police.
Cohen admitted to the judge that his client’s actions were based on the advice he gave, using the order he created.
