WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two people were shot Tuesday evening in Southeast Washington D.C., prompting an ongoing investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.

The shooting occurred in the 4500 block of Benning Road, where officers responded to reports of gunfire. Police confirmed a man and one additional victim were injured in the incident, though the exact circumstances remain unclear.

Initially, authorities believed one of the victims was a minor, but later clarified that the ages of the individuals have not been confirmed. The man was reported to be conscious and breathing at the scene. The second victim was said to be unconscious when first responders arrived.

No information has been released about a possible suspect or motive. Investigators continue to process the scene and interview potential witnesses.
