Bloomfield Man Arrested for Assault and Impersonating a Police Officer

PITTSBURGH, PA – On March 15, Special Victims Unit detectives apprehended 31-year-old Andrew Ranallo of Bloomfield, PA on multiple charges, including Indecent Assault, Criminal Attempt Indecent Assault, False Imprisonment, and Impersonating a Public Servant.

The arrest followed an incident in Pittsburgh, where Ranallo met a female victim for the first time at a restaurant. During their encounter, he falsely identified himself as a police officer using identification cards. Believing she was in safe company, the victim agreed to accompany Ranallo to another location.

However, the situation escalated when Ranallo assaulted her inside his vehicle and prevented her from leaving. The victim managed to escape by jumping out of the vehicle at a red light and sought help immediately.
