Boston cop attacked by dogs while executing warrant, one dog dead

DORCHESTER, MA – A Boston police officer was attacked by two dogs while executing a search warrant in Dorchester this week.

On Wednesday, members of the BPD Youth Violence Strike Force arrested Tumerrick Brown, 22, of Dorchester, in the area of 28 Michigan Avenue. Brown was wanted on 12 outstanding warrants on charges including Assault and Battery on a Police Officer, Assault and Battery by means of a Dangerous Weapon, Fugitive from Justice out of Salam, New Hampshire, multiple counts of Larceny, and several Violations of the Chapter 90 MA Auto Laws.

During the arrest, a BPD officer was attacked by two dogs inside the house and bitten multiple times. A second officer discharged their weapon, striking both dogs, resulting in the death of one and the injury of the other. Both officers were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident is under investigation, and officers secured the apartment pending the issuance of a search warrant to search the premise.

After executing the search warrant, police recovered a .40 caliber firearm, leading to additional charges for Brown, including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Unlawful Storage of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm with an Obliterated Serial Number.
