Boston Police Arrest One on Drug and Gun Charges

Boston, MA – On Thursday, members of the BPD’s Drug Control Unit arrested Jose Reyes Jr., 38, of Fitchburg, on firearm and drug charges. The arrest followed a drug investigation in the area of 1202 Commonwealth Avenue where officers witnessed a potential drug transaction involving Reyes Jr.

The officers spotted Reyes Jr. waiting on the street before a vehicle pulled up, and a passenger engaged in what appeared to be a transaction. Subsequent checks revealed the vehicle’s registration was revoked, leading to a traffic stop at 300 Summit Avenue. Upon stopping the vehicle, the officers found a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield firearm, along with ammunition inside including a magazine with eight rounds, another empty magazine, and 42 rounds of 9mm ammunition.

Jose Reyes Jr. was taken into custody and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and distribution of class E substances.

He is set to appear before the Brighton District Court for arraignment. The vehicle’s driver was released with a summons to appear in court.
