BOSTON, MA — The Boston Police Department reported a significant arrest made by the Youth Violence Strike Force in Roxbury. Giovanni Eden-Chambers, an 18-year-old resident of Dorchester, was taken into custody on firearm charges on the evening of May 28, 2024.

The arrest occurred around 6:57 PM at 633 Shawmut Avenue, where police were conducting surveillance as part of an ongoing firearm investigation. Eden-Chambers was initially spotted standing outside an open door of a double-parked vehicle. After circling the block, officers found him seated inside the vehicle and observed suspicious behavior as he appeared to pin his arm to his waistband.

Upon requesting Eden-Chambers to exit the vehicle, officers conducted a pat frisk and discovered a loaded Smith and Wesson SD40 handgun. The firearm had one round in the chamber and twelve rounds in the magazine, qualifying it as a large-capacity weapon under local statutes.

Eden-Chambers faces charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, ammunition, and a large capacity feeding device. He is scheduled for arraignment at Roxbury District Court, where the case will proceed through the legal system.
