Breaking News: One person killed in house fire in Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, MD – One person was reportedly killed in a house fire in Cumberland Tuesday night. At around 5 pm, firefighters from the Cumberland Fire Department and assisting regional stations responded to a fire in the 500 block of Columbia Avenue.

The fire was put out in less than one half hour. Later, it was learned that one person was in the home.

Firefighters responding to the scene included Bowling Green, Cresaptown, LaVale, Ridgeley, Bedford Road, Wiley Ford, Shaft, Frostburg, Midland and District 16 stations.

The Office of the State Fire Marshal will be working with CFD Fire Marshals Office & Cumberland Police Department to investigate, which is the standard operating procedure when a fatal fire occurs, according to the OSFM.
