BRONX, N.Y. — A 35-year-old man was fatally shot and another injured in a Bronx shooting that led to the arrest of two suspects on Monday, according to the NYPD.

Officers responded to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln around 10:35 p.m. on April 22 after a 911 call reported two men had arrived with gunshot wounds. The shooting occurred within the 40th Precinct. Police said the victims were brought to the hospital by private means.

The 35-year-old victim, identified as John Medina of 50 East 168th Street, suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the torso. He died of his injuries and was pronounced dead the following day, April 23. A 42-year-old man who sustained a gunshot wound to the groin was listed in stable condition.

Following an investigation, two men were arrested on May 19 in connection with the shooting. Raul Camuez, 33, of Bruner Avenue in the Bronx, and Marcus Toolsie, 27, of Linden, New Jersey, were each charged with second-degree murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Camuez also faces a charge of first-degree manslaughter, according to police.

“The 35-year-old male victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased on April 23,” the NYPD said in a statement detailing the timeline of the case.

Medina’s death marks another fatal shooting in the Bronx this year as law enforcement continues to track firearm-related incidents across the borough.
