Brooklyn bus rider groped in evening attack as suspect flees scene

A 55-year-old woman was assaulted during an evening commute in Brooklyn, prompting a search for a suspect who fled before police arrived.

New York, NY – A woman riding a B35 MTA bus in Brooklyn reported being forcibly touched by an unidentified individual earlier this month, according to the NYPD. The incident occurred at approximately 6:25 p.m. on March 6 near Church Avenue and East 39 Street within the 67th Precinct. The suspect fled on foot and has not been located.

The victim told police she was approached by the individual while aboard the bus when the suspect grabbed her buttocks. The encounter happened during the early evening hours as the bus traveled through a residential section of East Flatbush.

No injuries were reported in connection with the incident. Police said the suspect fled the bus immediately after the contact and was last seen heading to an unknown location.

Search underway for suspect

The NYPD is urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward as the investigation continues. Officials have not released a description of the suspect.
