Brooklyn man charged with murder in fatal stabbing near Livonia Avenue

NEW YORK — A Brooklyn man has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of Kevin Brown, 33, who was killed last month in East New York, police said.

Brown, of 555 Ashford Street in Brooklyn, was found with a stab wound to the torso on Saturday, June 21, around 3:29 p.m., near Livonia Avenue and Cleveland Street in the 75th Precinct, according to the NYPD. He was transported by EMS to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Following an investigation, police arrested Leaon Fortune, 24, of 501 New Lots Avenue, the following day. He was taken into custody on June 22 at approximately 2:02 p.m. and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Authorities have not disclosed a motive in the case.

Brown was pronounced deceased at the hospital shortly after arrival, police said.
