BROOKLYN, N.Y. — A 29-year-old man was fatally shot early Saturday in East New York, prompting a police investigation across two precincts, authorities said.
Police responded to a 911 call at 1 Brookdale Plaza at approximately 1:32 a.m., where they were informed that a man had been shot in the chest. The victim, later identified as Tyrone Simmons of Brooklyn, was taken to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center by private means. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Initial reports placed the shooting at Brookdale Plaza, but further investigation revealed the incident actually occurred at 574 Dumont Avenue, within the confines of the 75th Precinct.
There have been no arrests, and police have not released details on a suspect or possible motive. Detectives from both precincts are continuing to investigate.
Simmons’ death marks another fatal shooting in the early morning hours in East New York, an area that has seen similar incidents in recent months.
A police report confirmed, “Upon further investigation, it was determined that the incident occurred at 574 Dumont Avenue.”
