Brooklyn man fatally shot near Kent Avenue on Saturday night

A 27-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday night in Brooklyn, prompting an ongoing investigation by NYPD’s 79th Precinct and Police Service Area 3.

Police responded to a 911 call at approximately 9:23 p.m. near Kent Avenue and Dekalb Avenue. Officers found Jahshyim Whitfield, of Brooklyn, with a gunshot wound to the torso.

He was transported in critical condition by EMS to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing.
