Brooklyn Man Sentenced to 19 Years for Fatally Slashing Ex-Girlfriend

BROOKLYN, NY – Romeo Borneo, a 63-year-old resident of Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Brooklyn, was sentenced on Thursday to 19 years in prison and five years of post-release supervision by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Abena Darkeh for killing his ex-girlfriend, Erica Renaud, 47. Borneo slashed Renaud’s throat during a dispute on November 13, 2018. He pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter on April 3, 2023.

Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez stated, “With today’s sentence, the defendant has been held responsible for the vicious and deadly stabbing of an innocent woman and mother.” The case was prosecuted by the District Attorney’s Domestic Violence Bureau, and further details are available upon request.
