Brooklyn Police Investigating Armed Robbery Involving Scooter Theft and Assault

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — The NYPD is investigating an armed robbery that took place late Friday night in the Sunset Park neighborhood of Brooklyn, where two unidentified individuals assaulted and robbed multiple victims before fleeing the scene on a stolen scooter.

The incident occurred on August 23, 2024, at approximately 10:55 p.m. in the vicinity of 55th Street and 9th Avenue. According to police reports, two suspects approached an 18-year-old male and demanded his scooter while displaying a firearm. The suspects then struck the victim on the head with the firearm, causing bruising to his face. The victim declined further medical attention at the scene.

After the initial assault, the suspects moved to the nearby intersection of 56th Street and 9th Avenue, where they confronted a 45-year-old female and a 46-year-old male. The suspects forcefully removed the woman’s purse from her person and fled the area on the stolen scooter. During the struggle, the 45-year-old female sustained lacerations to her mouth and leg. She was subsequently transported to Maimonides Medical Center for treatment.

The NYPD is actively investigating the incident and searching for the suspects involved. No arrests have been made at this time.
