A Powerball player who purchased a ticket in Brooklyn is $50,000 richer following Monday night’s drawing, according to the New York Lottery.

The winning third-prize ticket was sold at Lucky Choice, a convenience store located at 500A Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn. It matched four numbers and the red Powerball, securing the fixed $50,000 prize for its buyer.

The winning numbers for the May 5 drawing were selected from a field of one to 69, with the red Powerball chosen from a separate pool of one to 26. Drawings are held three times a week—Monday, Wednesday and Saturday—at 10:59 p.m.

This latest win adds to a series of recent Powerball prize claims across New York, although the jackpot was not won in this drawing. The identity of the Brooklyn winner has not been released, and prizes must be claimed within one year from the draw date.

The New York Lottery remains North America’s largest and most profitable, generating $3.8 billion in funding during the 2023-2024 fiscal year for public schools across the state.
