BROOKLYN, N.Y. – A 49-year-old woman was knocked to the ground Wednesday afternoon after a thief stole her cellphone during a sudden street robbery near East 29th Street and Avenue L, police said. The incident happened around 3:45 p.m. when an unidentified man approached the woman, grabbed her phone from her hand, and fled in an unknown direction.
The victim fell during the struggle, sustaining minor injuries, but declined medical attention at the scene.
Investigators described the suspect as a man with a dark complexion, approximately 18 to 22 years old, about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build. He was last seen wearing all dark-colored clothing.
Detectives are canvassing the area for surveillance footage as the search for the suspect continues.
