Brutal late-night stabbing leaves man dead on Upper West Side

NEW YORK, NY — A 40-year-old man was fatally stabbed late Friday night on the Upper West Side, authorities said.

Police responded to a 911 call reporting an assault in progress at 140 West 104th Street, within the jurisdiction of the 24th Precinct and Police Service Area 6, at approximately 11:57 p.m.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim with multiple stab wounds to the neck. Emergency medical services transported him to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released, pending family notification. The motive behind the assault remains unclear, and authorities have not disclosed whether any weapons were recovered at the scene.

“No arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing,” the NYPD stated.
