Buffalo Man Dragged Cop During Traffic Stop

BUFFALO, NY – On Friday, Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn recently announced that Dareious T. Akbar, 19, was arraigned on multiple charges.

These charges stemmed from an incident on May 29, when Akbar allegedly drove through a red light in a stolen vehicle and dragged a police officer during a traffic stop initiated by Town of Tonawanda police officers. Officer David Piatek was treated for a head injury and other serious physical injuries.

Additionally, Akbar is involved in several other cases related to possession of stolen property and menacing charges. Akbar has two more pending cases in the Town of Amherst and City of Lackawanna. He is scheduled to return on Friday, July 21, at 9:30 a.m. for a pre-trial conference.
