Calvert County Honors Local War Heroes and Veterans

DUNKIRK, MD – Sheriff Ricky Cox and the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office celebrated 23 senior War Heroes at Dunkirk District Park. The event, named the Capital Region Honor Flight Operation “Welcome Home” ceremony, honored veterans aged between 73 and 106.

The veterans were escorted from the Washington D.C/Maryland line to Dunkirk with help from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, Maryland State Police – Prince Frederick Barrack “U”, and the Nam Nights.

These veterans served during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The event aimed to recognize their sacrifices and offer a heartfelt welcome to those who may not have received one upon their return from service.
