Cambridge Man Arrested for Assault and Robbery Involving a Machete

CAMBRIDGE, MD — An incident involving an assault and robbery near the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center led to the arrest of 44-year-old Eddy Ediberto Garcia Juarez of Cambridge, MD, by the Cambridge Police Department.

The event unfolded on the evening of March 25, around 10:06 PM, in a parking lot at Cambridge Plaza. Responding officers arrived at the scene to find a vehicle with damaged windows and contacted a male victim, who was visibly injured with blood on his shirt, and a female victim. The victims reported that Garcia Juarez approached their vehicle wielding a machete, proceeded to damage the vehicle, and assaulted the male victim with the weapon. The male victim attempted to flee towards the Police Department but was pursued by Garcia Juarez and other unidentified males.

Hospital camera footage corroborated the victims’ account, showing Garcia Juarez damaging the vehicle and attacking the male victim. The footage also captured an attempted assault on the female victim and Garcia Juarez forcefully taking the vehicle keys from her while armed with the machete.

Following leads, officers apprehended Garcia Juarez on the 600 block of High St and secured the vehicle involved for further investigation. A search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of the machete used in the assault. Garcia Juarez was processed at CPD and subsequently transferred to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections, where he is being held without bond.
