CAMBRIDGE, MD — The Cambridge Police Department announced several arrests and enforcement actions from April 22 to April 25, including a shooting investigation, a firearms recovery, bench warrant arrests, a tobacco sales violation, and a trespassing incident.
On April 22 at approximately 8:14 p.m., officers observed individuals trespassing on a posted property in the 500 block of Cedar Street. Clarence Roosevelt Beck III, 49, who had previously been banned from the location, was identified and issued a criminal citation for trespassing.
On April 24 around 1:57 p.m., officers on Pine Street heard multiple gunshots, followed by a ShotSpotter alert reporting three shots fired on Douglas Street. At the scene, officers recovered three spent shell casings, a live round, and located a vehicle damaged by gunfire. Surveillance footage showed a suspect fleeing the area.
Later that day, officers spotted a suspect matching the video description near Douglas and Wells Streets. As officers approached, the group fled. Jayden Mykel Williams, 18, was apprehended on Robbins Street. He had an active warrant for assault and was taken into custody. Two loaded 9mm handguns—one a ghost gun, the other reported stolen in 2023—were recovered along the suspects’ flight path. Williams also allegedly discarded crack cocaine in a patrol vehicle and faces pending charges following DNA testing. A juvenile also involved was released to a guardian.
Additional arrests and violations
On April 25, officers arrested Janet Marie King, 43, on two Dorchester County bench warrants related to probation violations stemming from prior assault and disorderly conduct charges. She was remanded to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections.
That same evening, during a tobacco compliance operation, police cited Shahzad Azam, 56, an employee at the ZipMart on High Street, for selling a tobacco product to an underage buyer. Azam was charged with unlawful tobacco sales to individuals under 21.
