Camden, N.J. – A Glassboro man has been arrested in connection to the fatal shooting of a Collingswood man, according to Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez.
Angel Torres, 31, of Glassboro, has been charged with one count of first-degree Murder in the homicide of Michael Giancola, 24, of Collingswood.
Police responded to the 1800 block of S. 6th St. in Camden for a ShotSpotter activation around 6 a.m. on Jan 2. When they arrived, they located a vehicle that had crashed into a pole with Giancola inside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Giancola was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Through the investigation, detectives determined Torres was the shooter.
Torres was taken into custody on Jan. 11 by the U.S. Marshals Service Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force – Baltimore Division at a hotel in Baltimore, M.D. He is currently awaiting extradition.
